PEABODY – Walt Disney Pictures is coming to New England and has its eyes set on Peabody to film scenes for their romantic comedy, “The Proposal.”A scouting agent from Beverly called City Hall Tuesday specifically looking to work at one of the schools, said the mayor’s Administrative Assistant Mary Bellevance.”They’re looking at the Kiley School,” she said. “That building seems to have what they’re looking for.”Bellevance said that the request was referred to Superintendent Milton Burnett, who will have to grant permission for filming on school property. Burnett said he has yet to contact the scout, but plans to do so soon.If Burnett agrees, the scout could visit various locations throughout the city and make their decision. If Disney decides to set up shop in Peabody, taping would begin as soon as the week of April vacation.”I believe they’ll be filming for two days,” said Bellevance, noting that the process should be easier without school in session.According to various news sources, shooting will also take place in Gloucester. The full-length feature stars Sandra Bullock as an established book editor facing deportation to her native country of Canada. To maintain her stay in Alaska, Bullock arranges a phony marriage to her assistant, played by Ryan Reynolds.Well-known movie database www.imdb.com says the film is expected to be released by February of next year.Peabody is no stranger to Disney movie crews. The 2006 comedy “The Game Plan” starring wrestler turned actor Dwayne Johnson, a.k.a. “The Rock,” was filmed inside the old Macy’s building at the Northshore Mall.Bellevance also noted two previous occasions where scouts from other production companies have called looking to film a section of railroad, as well as an old warehouse.
