REVERE-The suspect accused of stabbing a man to death last November in a Revere home was ordered Thursday held without bail until his murder trial begins sometime next year.Jose Sanchez Moz, 27, of East Boston, was indicted by a Suffolk Superior Court grand jury Tuesday on first-degree murder and assault charges. During his arraignment Thursday, Suffolk Superior Court Magistrate Gary D. Wilson ordered Moz held without bail until his trial begins in about one year.Moz is accused of killing Jose Amalcar Hernandez Rivera, 34, a father of two from Boston, as a house party was ending around 4 a.m. Nov. 2 at 14 Nahant Ave. Moz is also accused of stabbing and seriously injuring another man in the incident.Prosecutors released new details of the crime in court on Thursday.Authorities say an argument began between Rivera and some of the residents when they tried to escort Rivera out of the home after the party had winded down.”The party began breaking up,” Assistant District Attorney Daniel Mulhern said in court. “At some point Mr. Rivera was asked to leave. As Mr. Rivera was being escorted out, a small altercation broke out” between Rivera and others present. Moz was not part of that altercation, he said.As the argument escalated, the surviving stabbing victim came to Rivera’s aid, prosecutors said. A short time later, Moz allegedly stepped into the confrontation.”At that point, the defendant intervened [and] picked up a knife,” Mulhern said.In the moments that followed, both Rivera and the surviving victim sustained a number of serious stab wounds, authorities said.”The order of the stabbings is unclear,” Mulhern said, “but [the surviving victim] was stabbed twice ? once in the chest and once in the stomach. He spent a period of five to six days at Massachusetts General Hospital.”Authorities say Rivera was stabbed seven times in the attack and five of the wounds were to the chest, some of them more than three inches deep.As Rivera lay outside the house bleeding to death, the other victim, who remains unidentified, staggered to the Stop and Shop in Wonderland Plaza and called for help.Rivera was rushed to Whidden Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.Moz is officially charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, armed assault with intent to murder and aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
