SAUGUS-Police say a Walgreens store manager did the right thing when she helped foil a burglary at the store Monday morning.At about 6:50 a.m., the 24-year-old Saugus woman was getting ready to open the Walnut Street business when she noticed an unknown man broke in through the front door, police said.The employee immediately ran into an office and locked the door. She then called police.”The clerk did the right thing by running into the office,” Police Lt. Michael Annese said.As police responded, an officer walked into the store while the burglar was still inside. The suspect then ran out a back door where a female was waiting for him outside.”The suspect got spooked and left the building,” Annese said.The pair ran toward Route 1. Despite a search by Saugus and State Police, the suspects were not caught.After the suspects fled, police discovered a black bag containing a screwdriver and gloves left behind.Police say the suspect tried to pry open the door to the store’s pharmacy. However, no items were stolen.
