LYNN – Learn to tango like Antonio Banderas, or at least get your feet moving in unison with a partner. The Greater Lynn YMCA is offering ballroom dance classes on Friday evenings.”The classes are ongoing and you don’t have to have a partner, but couples are welcome, of course,” said Sharon Dobbyn, the YMCA fitness director. “You can pay as you go.”The classes are 6:30-7:30 p.m. Flat shoes are best. Rubber soles should be avoided.”If you wear rubber, you’re feet will stick to the floor and you won’t be able to move,” said Dobbyn. “People should also wear comfortable clothing.”The fee is $15 per session for YMCA members and $20 for non-members. Dance instruction includes the salsa, merengue, samba, rumba, bomba, plena and other Caribbean favorites. Rosa Ortiz of Lynn is the dance instructor. Classes will be held in the aerobics studio off the main exercise room on the second floor of the YMCA, 20 Neptune Boulevard. To sign up for classes, contact Dobbyn at 781-581-3105, ext. 33.
