All-State Track: Culkeen impresses for Fenwick

Bishop Fenwick senior Lexi Culkeen finished third in the shot put Monday at the MIAA All-States at the Reggie Lewis Center.Culkeen threw a 37-11, missing second place by less than three inches. She’ll have one more chance to go out on top when she competes in the New England Track Championships Friday at the Reggie Lewis Center.Swampscott’s Lindsay Walsh finished eighth in the 2-mile with a time of 11:29. Kasey Kluge of Beverly took the 13th spot (11:34). Katelyn Hartnett of Danvers finished 11th in the 600 meters (1:39) and Beverly’s Monica Adler took 11th in the mile (5:16). Maddy Wrable, also of Beverly, took 13th in the 1,000 (3:04.54). Peabody’s Joanna Chanaj took 10th in the high jump (5-1).In the boys meet, Matt Guarente of Saugus took sixth in the high jump with a leap of 6 feet, three inches. Gloucester’s Liam Anastasia-Murphy finished second in the 1,000 (2:30.55) and Mike Masse, St. John’s Prep, took seventh in that event (2:34.10).Gloucester won the 4×800 relay with the team of Austin Sousa, Andrew Ryan, Alex Trotsky and Anastasia-Murphy (8:02) and Peabody took third in the event with a time of 8:12.29. Josh Green, Ryan Conrad, Ramses Montero and Josh Band were on that relay. Beverly’s Brendan Norris took third in the 600 (1:23.39) and Sean Hanlon of St. John’s Prep took eighth (1:25).
