REVERE – The alleged Lynn drug trafficker who mutilated his fingertips to avoid identification by authorities was arraigned on additional charges Thursday in Chelsea District Court, where a judge ordered the suspect held on $100,000 cash bail. The suspect, tentatively identified as Rafael L. Cesareo, 31, of 139 Alley St., Lynn, was arrested after a large drug bust at 54 Shirley Ave., Revere on Jan. 31. Since then authorities discovered he had outstanding warrants for drug charges in Salem and New York City.Authorities were shocked following his arrest when police couldn’t obtain Cesareo’s fingerprints because they had either been burned or chewed off in an attempt to hide his true identity. While authorities say this type of behavior isn’t unheard of, it is rare.”We have never had a defendant whom we could not ultimately identify, and this one is no different,” Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley said. “We look forward to working with our law enforcement partners locally and across state lines to develop his true identity and hold him accountable for each and every charge he’s tried to dodge.”In court Thursday, prosecutors revealed Cesareo has used four other aliases in the past, including the names Mario Guzman, Mario Muzman, Luis Alberto and Jonathan Caez. One of Cesareo’s latest charges is being a fugitive from justice following a drug conviction in Queens, N.Y. under the false identity of Luis Alberto.Cesareo was charged with trafficking heroin, cocaine and other drug charges related to his arrest in Revere. Police also arrested Eliezer Sanchez-Correa, 28 and Retnaldo Martino, 35, both of 54 Shirley Ave., after Revere and State Police made several undercover purchases from all three suspects, authorities said.
