LYNN – A basement house fire occurred around 4 p.m. Friday at 68 Rockdale Ave., and was quickly extinguished.According to Lynn District Chief Thomas Swirka, the working fire was contained to the basement of the home, where callers reported seeing smoke billowing out of the residence.Several cats were rescued from the home, one of which was reportedly singed by the flames, and were treated at the scene.The cause of the blaze is still being investigated and the amount of damages to the home is unknown.Swirka said one firefighter was injured at the scene when he slipped on a patch of ice. He was transported to a hospital for evaluation.
