Sandra Brunonia Barry, 47, is the author of “The Lace Reader,” the story of a young woman who can read the future in the patterns of Ipswich lace. She returns to Salem when her aunt dies, and the story’s twists are many and surprising from then on.Raised in Marblehead – the sister of independent state representative candidate Mark Barry, who recalls reading the novel at her kitchen table – she spent a decade in Hollywood working on other writers’ screenplays from 1985-1995. She and her husband, Gary Ward, moved to Salem in 1995 and started a successful game and puzzle software company called SmartGames. She has recently signed a contract in excess of $2 million with Harper Collins Publishing Co. to publish her book and also has a contract to work on the film script of this book.Kay Scheidler, English curriculum director, said Ms. Barry will answer questions on the process of writing her book and getting it published by Harper Collins. The session is free and open to the public.
