The Peabody Chamber of Commerce’s Government Affairs Committee will host a “Meeting City Hall” event on Thursday, March 31 at City Hall from 5:30-7 p.m.The event will serve as a “who’s who” for business owners interested in meeting the key players in City Hall and their responsibilities.”This will be an opportunity for business owners to put a face to a name they may be familiar with and also get a brief overview of various departments,” wrote Chamber Executive Director Deanne Healy. “People always feel more comfortable seeking advice or assistance when they know who they are supposed to be dealing with.”Mayor Michael Bonfanti said he is looking forward to Thursday’s event.”I am very pleased to have an opportunity to discuss the major issues associated with job creation and economic development, educational opportunities, and many other issues facing the city of Peabody with the members of the Chamber of Commerce,” he said. “We are looking to the Peabody Chamber to play an even larger role in helping our community as we set an ambitious agenda to help Peabody reach its economic and civic potential.”The Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee is chaired by Tony Picano of Sovereign Bank and co-chair Michael Talisman of Peabody House. The goal of the committee is to represent members of the Peabody Chamber before the government on all levels, be a resource to government officials seeking input from the business leaders, influence decisions that affect business, and promote police that will help encourage positive and appropriate economic growth in the community. To register for the event, business owner and members can log on to the chamber Web site at www.peabodychamber.com and visit the events page.
