NAHANT – Crews labored in the rain and snow Tuesday installing new street signs along Nahant Road.Department of Public Works Director Robert Ward said the existing street signs do not meet federal specifications so the signs have to be replaced. The new signs are green and emblazoned with the town seal, and will be placed atop new poles.”The new signs are larger and easier to read,” Ward said. “They are double backed signs, which makes them harder to steal.”Town Administrator Mark Cullinan said approximately 44 signs are being installed throughout town at a cost of approximately $4,000.Ward said the DPW is removing the old signs and installing the new signage, which saves the town money.”We’ll do it in waves,” he said. “Nahant Road is the first wave then we’ll do other areas later this spring.”
