Boys and Girls Club Lucky Sweepstakes set for March 26

LYNN – The Boys & Girls Club of Lynn will be holding its 22nd annual Lucky Sweepstakes fundraiser Wednesday, March 26 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Porthole Restaurant on the Lynnway.More than $14,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to lucky ticket holders that evening. The event generates revenue to assist the funding needs of the Boys & Girls Club with its year-round programming for the youth in Lynn.The Lucky Sweepstakes tickets can be purchased for $100 each, with a chance of winning the grand prize of $10,000. Many other prizes and cash will be given away as well. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a free buffet for ticket holders. The drawings will begin at 6:30 p.m. Only 325 tickets will be sold with a 32 to 1 chance of winning a prize. Those in attendance will anxiously wait as ticket numbers are drawn one by one until the final top 10 tickets and winners are announced.In the past, many people have split the cost of a ticket with up to 10 people. It is a great event for a great cause. The support of those in the past is greatly appreciated by the Boys & Girls Club organization.The Boys & Girls Club averages 400 kids per day at its North Common Street Clubhouse. There are more than 2,400 members, ages 6-18, who take part in a variety of educational and recreational programs and activities offered.Those who purchase tickets will not only have the chance of winning a prize, but will also help continue the 119-year-old tradition of the organization to maintain a strong foundation assisting the numerous kids who participate each day.Tickets are still available at the Boys & Girls Club and can be purchased by dropping by 25 North Common St. or by calling 781-593-1772.
