For The ItemSALEM – A Lynn construction worker who admitted dealing cocaine and heroin in 2005 received a sentence of seven and one-half to nine and one-half years in state prison and will be deported. In Salem Superior Court Friday morning, Domingo Ramos, 38, with addresses at 359 Summer St., Apt. 3, Lynn and also at 14 Walnut Place, Revere, avoided a trial by pleading guilty to a reduced charge of trafficking over 28 grams of cocaine as well as two counts of possession of heroin with the intent to distribute and three counts of distribution of cocaine.Judge Howard J. Whitehead sentenced Ramos in accordance with the agreement reached by prosecutors and defense.Assistant District Attorney Michael A. Sheehan told Whitehead that the case involved a series of drug deals involving hand-to-hand sales of cocaine and heroin to an undercover officer between November and December 18, 2005 in Saugus and Lynn.On Dec. 19 police arrested him in Saugus after confiscating two bags of cocaine and three bags of heroin from his person.Police then searched his Summer Street apartment where they seized 226 grams of cocaine along with a digital scale, a kilo press and other drug-related items.Although he was indicted for trafficking over 200 grams of cocaine, the state agreed to reduce the charge to trafficking over 28 grams of cocaine as a result of a plea concession, sparing Ramos of a mandatory 15-year prison term.Sheehan explained that a series of fingerprints were lifted from the apartment, but none were Ramos’, nor was there any documentation of him living there and the apartment was rented to a female. However Ramos did have access to apartment, Sheehan noted, and his car was registered to an address in Revere. After Ramos serves the sentence he will be deported back to the Dominican Republic. The judge credited him the 823 days he has spent in jail awaiting trial.
