LYNNFIELD – Lynnfield residents have until 8 p.m. this evening to register to vote in next month’s town elections, said Town Clerk Amy Summers. Absentee ballots are currently available at Town Hall for those who are unable to go to the polls because of physical disability or religious belief.Ten names will grace the ballots handed out on April 14, six of which represent candidates who face no opposition in their quest for a spot in the local government.Board of Assessors member Richard Simmons, Jr., Town Moderator David Miller, and Planning Board member Richard Dalton are all running unopposed for re-election.Three others are more or less a shoe-in, as well. Robert Calamari is running for a three-year term as a Library Trustee, James Fagan is running for a three-year term on the School Committee, and Barbara Casey is shooting for a five-year term with the Housing Authority. However, things won’t be as easy for two residents looking to be elected for a one-year term with the School Committee, a position made available due to current School Committee member Lisa Shannon resigning a year early. Michael Craffey and Jessica Goldberg are now vying to finish the leftover year of Shannon’s term.Charles Allen Merritt, Jr. and David Nelson are contending for the one available seat on the Board of Selectmen.Polls will be open until 8 p.m. during Monday’s election.
