LYNN – The College Education Application Project is looking for individuals from Lynn and the surrounding community to volunteer for any of the program’s many activities and classes this spring and summer.CAEP Inc. is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization that provides a number of services to middle and high school students in the city, including mentoring and tutoring, career planning and help with filling out college applications and financial aid forms.The organization welcomes teachers, parents, community leaders and college students as volunteers for any number of the programs held on weekdays after school at the Grace United Methodist church on Union Street.Volunteers must be able to commit at least one hour per month to the organization, and be willing to work with children between the ages of 11 and 18.What started as a volunteer program run by Marshall Middle School teacher Arthur Akers to help high school students with the college application process has evolved into a successful after school program, helping students with everything from homework to test preparation, along with the original goal of getting kids into college.Participants are also involved in a number of educational field trips and fun events throughout the year.Upcoming CAEP events include the Annual CAEP Fashion Show, taking place April 5 at 4 p.m. CAEP is still looking for students of any age to take part in the show, and wardrobe will be provided.
