Ryan Kane of Nahant and Erica Sonia of Lynn, both St. Mary’s High graduates, were named Salem State College Athletes of the Week.Kane, a freshman shortstop, wasted no time adjusting to college baseball. He helped lead the Vikings (9-4) to a 4-0 week by going 8-for-13 with seven runs batted in. He hit the second-ever home run at the New Salem State Baseball Field in a 16-4 win over New England College. He finished 3-for-3 with 3 RBI.Sonia, a sophomore right fielder, has been the Lady Vikings most consisten hitter through the first 12 games (5-7). She went a combined 3-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI despite SSC droping a doubleheader at Rhode Island College. Sonia is hitting .429 with three RBI in 11 games.
