PEABODY – A Peabody man is facing an assault charge after he allegedly threatened a construction worker with tire iron Monday on Endicott Street when the worker kicked his car numerous times in a dispute, police said.Antonio Pascoal, 25, of 15 Newcastle St., Peabody, was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (motor vehicle) shortly after 4 p.m.The alleged victim was directing traffic for a construction truck that was backing out of a driveway at 86 Endicott St. when Pascoal, who was driving a 2000 Infinity, apparently didn’t stop because he didn’t see the worker, police said.The victim told police he didn’t think Pascoal saw him, according to police.As Pascoal drove past the man, the victim allegedly kicked the side of Pascoal’s car in a rage.The kick got Pascoal’s attention.He allegedly stopped the car further up the road and put it into reverse.”The operator said he didn’t provoke anything and he doesn’t know why the person struck his vehicle,” Lt. Dennis Bonaiuto said.Pascoal allegedly drove the car backwards at a low speed and struck the construction worker.The worker then allegedly kicked his car again. Police said minor dents were observed on the car.The victim called police after Pascoal allegedly took a tire iron out of his car and threatened the victim with it.Police arrested Pascoal a short distance away.
