LYNN – The city’s spring cleanup street sweeping campaign will kick off on March 31, starting in Ward 7, followed by Ward 6.Department of Public Works Commissioner Jay Fink said residents should take advantage of the program and join in the city’s effort to spruce up the neighborhoods.Vehicles must be moved from the street during the process or they could be subjected to being ticketed and or towed.Fink said the street sweeping schedule is always subject to change due to inclement weather.”Citizens have always been supportive and are encouraged to compile their curbside yard waste, leaves, grass and debris into the appropriate containers to be left out on their regular scheduled trash day,” he said. “It’s great to see the community taking such pride in their homes and neighborhoods, and the effort that they are making to their homes and property is really great for the entire city.”Fink reminded residents to not sweep debris into piles because it does not help the process. Large piles cannot be picked up by the machines and will be left behind. The week of April 27 will be another opportunity for residents to discard leaf and yard waste and Fink urged people to take advantage of it.
