LYNN – The Lynn Police Department’s alleged toilet paper thief has been arrested.Donna Christopher, 45, of 228 Washington St. #2, Lynn, was charged with larceny from a building on Saturday night.Police say Christopher stole toilet paper and soap from the police station’s public bathroom for several weeks.According to police, Christopher attempted to leave the station after using the bathroom in the front lobby when an officer noticed several objects protruding from her front sweatshirt.Officer Grace McManus was working at the front desk when she “could clearly see the zippered sweatshirt was bulging with rolls of toilet paper,” according to a police report.Police took back two rolls of department toilet paper, a full bottle of hand soap and a six-inch stack of paper towels.Shortly after Christopher allegedly tried to push her way out of the station, she asked, “What are you gonna do? Arrest me for stealing toilet paper?”Police say it wasn’t the first time Christopher had the audacity to steal from the police station.Police began keeping an eye on the bathroom since an unknown white female who looked homeless began stealing toiletries on a routine basis for several weeks. When Christopher first walked into the police station Saturday and requested to use the bathroom, McManus asked her to open up her sweatshirt to show her nothing was inside before using the facility. She complied.Just after McManus heard the toilet flush, she positioned herself in front of the bathroom door as Christopher walked out, according to police. In a police report, McManus noted the “very obvious protruding stolen property from her sweatshirt.”Christopher has another open court case from October, when Lynn police charged her with pulling a false fire alarm, trespassing and malicious destruction of property over $250.On Oct. 27, Christopher was angry about getting evicted from an apartment building at 147 Washington St. and pulled a fire alarm to get even, according to police. The building manager could not reset the fire alarm and it cost “well over $1,000” to fix, police said.Christopher, who has also used the alias “Donna Blanchette,” is due back in court May 1.
