NAHANT – The town is looking for $100,000 for capital repairs to several municipal buildings.A borrowing article on the April 26 Town Meeting warrant asks voters to appropriate the money to repair the police station, fire station and Department of Public Works facility on Flash Road.Nahant Town Administrator Mark Cullinan said the money would be used to repair existing problems and deficiencies in the three buildings.DPW Director/Fire Chief Robert Ward said one of the goals is to make the fire station and DPW garage more energy efficient. He said the DPW facility hasn’t had any major upgrades in more than 20 years.”This is a stop gap measure,” he said. “There is a lot of work to be done and we’re going to whittle away at it a little at a time. We want to replace the garage doors to make the building more energy efficient first.”As for the fire station, Ward said a portion of the roof is leaking and needs to be repaired and repairs need to be made to the windows. Most of the improvements to the police station would be made in the dispatch room, according to Cullinan. He said funds would be used for a new floor, new electrical wiring and some simple system upgrades.
