Sponsors, golfers sought for Swampscott July 4 fundraiser

SWAMPSCOTT – Fundraising is underway for the annual Fourth of July fireworks, which are held in conjunction with the city of Lynn.Town Accountant Dave Castellarin said sponsors and golfers are being sought for the annual fundraising golf tournament, which is scheduled May 12 at Tedesco Country Club.Castellarin said the annual fireworks display and Fourth of July festivities costs the town approximately $30,000.Recreation Director Danielle Strauss said the tournament is limited to 128 golfers and registration is on a first come/first serve basis. All registrations must be submitted by April 25. Registration is $125 per golfer and players can register as individuals or as part of a foursome. Castellarin said it would be a play-your-own-ball tournament and there will be several contests, including longest drive and closest to the pin. The tournament is scheduled to get underway at 1 p.m. and it will be followed by a barbeque and awards ceremony.Castellarin said there are also numerous opportunities for sponsorship. It costs $250 to sponsor a hole, $500 to sponsor a golf cart. Donations are also being accepted for gift bags and raffles.
