REVERE – A Revere man was sentenced Monday to four years in state prison for allegedly breaking into his estranged wife’s home and trying to kill her in 2006, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.Pasquale Cocchia, 58, formerly of 5 Lambert St., will spend four years in prison followed by four years of probation after he reached a plea deal with prosecutors this week, DA spokesman Jake Wark said.Cocchia was arrested Dec. 13, 2006 after his 39-year-old wife, who had a restraining order against him, was found screaming and crying on Park Avenue after Cocchia stabbed her with a knife and beat her with a hammer inside her home.After the assault, Cocchia went into a bedroom and intentionally slit his throat and wrists. The couple’s daughter was found hiding in a closet.Cocchia pleaded guilty Monday to two counts of aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of violating a restraining order and one count of home invasion.As part of the plea bargain, prosecutors dropped one charge of assault and battery and one charge of violating a restraining order.Cocchia must not have any contact with his wife or daughter and must undergo mental health treatment.
