REVERE – A Malden man is facing a list of charges after he got into a fight with an officer who was arresting him for driving drunk on Saturday morning, police said.Jose A. Flores, 38, of 35 High Rock Road, Malden, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a police officer, disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday.Police responded to a minor rear-end collision between two cars in Mahoney Circle when the drama ensued. The operator of the other car told police that three men had jumped out of Flores’ car after the accident, police said.Flores exhibited “the classic signs of alcohol intoxication,” Police Capt. Michael Murphy said.Flores could not follow simple instructions, including one to get out of the rain, police said.Flores’ sister arrived a short time later after he called her on his cell phone, according to police.Despite his sister’s pleas for him to cooperate, Flores allegedly took a fighting stance against the officer as he was being handcuffed.”The officer was forced to call for assistance because he could not get the defendant into the cruiser and the struggle was forcing them out into the traffic,” Murphy said.Flores was sprayed with pepper spray before he was arrested. Officers had to lift him off the ground to get him into the police car, according to police.
