NAHANT – The sale of the American Legion Post at 2 Coolidge Road is expected to be complete by the end of the month. The Nahant Veterans Association, which owns the property that has been occupied by the American Legion for decades, has signed a purchase and sale agreement with Advanced Building Concepts of Nahant, which is purchasing the property for $446,000.American Legion Vice-Commander Peter Przybycien said Advanced Building Concepts plans to raze the existing building and sub-divide the 2,200 square-foot property into two single-family house lots.”It is zoned residential,” he said. “From what we saw they are going to put two single family homes on the property. The lot is large enough to meet zoning requirements for two homes in that area. The whole process has gone very smoothly and we’re pleased to get the price we did.”Advanced Building Concepts is headed by Nahant resident Joe Moccia, but attempts to reach Moccia were unsuccessful.Przybycien said the American Legion has already moved out of the building and its belongings are currently being stored at the Nahant Lifesaving Station. He said the American Legion is currently in negotiations with the Nahant Lifesaving Station Committee regarding space in that building.”We are looking at a long term lease,” he said. “We’re also discussing the possibility of making a large donation towards the renovation of the Coast Guard Station in exchange for use of space in the building.”Przybycien said several people have asked about the bowling lanes, which are located in the American Legion Post. We’re trying to find a way to preserve a portion of the lanes for the Nahant Historical Society,” he said. “They have expressed an interest in that.”
