Gaeta’s walkoff home run leads Colby-Sawyer

NEW LONDON, N.H. – Junior Chris Gaeta of Lynn hit his second home run of the day, a two-run walkoff home run in the bottom of the seventh inning, to give Colby-Sawyer a 13-12 win in game one of a doubleheader with Western New England College on Sunday afternoon. Western New England won the second game, 9-5.Gaeta hit his first home run in the first inning, giving the Chargers a 2-0 lead. Colby-Sawyer led 11-7 heading into the last inning, but WNEC scored five in the top of the seventh to take a 12-11 lead. With two out in the bottom of the seventh, Lee Chubet tripled and Gaeta followed with the game-winning two-run blast.Gaeta, a St. Mary’s grad, went 1-for-4 with an RBI in the second game. He is leading the Chargers (11-19) in hitting with a .353 average with three home runs and 16 RBI.
