PEABODY – A Lynn man admitted to breaking into nine cars on residential streets in Peabody Tuesday and stealing hundreds of dollars of valuables in the process, police said.Nicholas Encarnacion, 22, of 134 Allen Ave., was arrested and charged with nine counts of breaking and entering into a vehicle at night to commit a felony, possession of a burglarious instrument, receiving stolen property over $250 and possession of a class D drug (marijuana) at about 5 a.m.About 20 minutes earlier, a Nickerson Road resident called police after he said he watched a young man trying to break into his car. The resident said he yelled at the suspect and scared him off.Within minutes, police observed a man matching the description of the suspect, later identified as Encarnacion, walking on Margin Street toward Salem. An officer asked Encarnacion if someone on Nickerson Road had just yelled at him and he allegedly answered, “yes.”As police searched Encarnacion, an officer allegedly found two credit cards that were later determined to belong to another Nickerson Road resident.Police searched a backpack Encarnacion was wearing at the time of his arrest and allegedly found: three cell phones, a GPS unit, $26.09 in loose change, $65 cash, an empty wallet, two knives, student identification cards, two parks of cigarettes (where a joint of marijuana was found inserted into a package), an iPod, a Canon camera, three Mobil gas station gift cards, a glass punch (that police considered a burglarious tool) and other items.Police later drove Encarnacion down Lenox Road and Nickerson Road, where he allegedly pointed out nine vehicles that he had broken into.Police say he also broke into a car on Evans Road.
