PEABODY – A lone man attempted to rob the Sovereign Bank on Route 114 Tuesday but didn’t get any cash, police said.A white man in his early 20s, approximately 5-foot-10 with strawberry blond hair and freckles, wearing a black cap, a gray sweatshirt, jeans and white sneakers, attempted to pass a note to the bank teller at about 10:50 a.m., according to Peabody Det. Peter Olsen.”He tried to pass a note,” Olsen said. “The teller became suspicious and pressed the alarm button.”The suspect ran out of the bank with the note in his hand, police said.”He didn’t cause a commotion and no one was injured,” Olsen said.The suspect left the area in a small green car, possibly a Ford Focus, and headed eastbound on Route 114, also known as Andover Street, Olsen said.The FBI’s Bank Robbery Task Force, State Police and Peabody Police are all working the case.
