Verizon to install new connectors

MARBLEHEAD – A man on horseback hasn?t ridden through Marblehead?s historic downtown shouting, “The connector cabinets are coming!”But they are – and Verizon is bringing them.Stanley Usovicz, Verizon regional director, and E. Everett Bryan, right of way agent, discussed the upcoming installation of about 50 connector cabinets with selectmen last week.The cabinets are 3-4 feet high – the cabinets mounted on pads on the ground are higher – and they will be located every few blocks to route cable connections. In the downtown area, where utility wires were moved underground several years ago, the cabinets will be on the ground.Befitting a community that prides itself on the continuing value of real estate, selectmen expressed their concern with both the placement and maintenance of the cabinets.According to a Verizon flier, the cabinets destined for Marblehead are already 50 percent smaller than previous examples.
