SWAMPSCOTT – The Swampscott Police Association is holding a father and daughter dance on June 14 at the high school.SPA President Detective Ted Delano said the dance is another way to reach out to the community.”The SPA hosts family-oriented events from time to time,” he said. “The holiday parade is usually the biggest event where officers get a chance to interact with the community. We hope this dance will also prove to be a popular event.”Detective Rose Cheever, who proposed holding the father-daughter dance, said Lynnfield and Wakefield have similar dances that are always well attended.”We thought it would be a nice thing for the town,” she said. “It’s Father’s Day weekend and it will be a nice event for fathers and daughters to attend together.”Delano said girls between five and 13 years old are welcome to attend with an adult male relative.Cheever said tickets for the dance are $40 per couple and it includes a deejay, a commemorative professional photograph and light refreshments. Cheever added corsages would be available to purchase at the dance.Delano said the SPA is not making on money on the event and ticket sales would cover costs associated with the event. The dance will be held on June 14 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Swampscott High School. Tickets are expected to go on sale next week and will be available at the Swampscott Police Station.”We expect this event to sell out quickly,” Delano said. “People should purchase tickets early.”Anyone, who would like additional information, should call Cheever or Delano at 781-595-1111.
