LYNN-Two city men were arrested Saturday and charged with possessing illegal explosives after a State Police bomb squad detonated a pipe bomb outside the Brickett School, a law enforcement source said.Anthony J. Gillette, 23, of 21 Kelly Lane and Michael Balboni, 39, of 27 Beyer Place #3, were arrested and charged with possession of an infernal device and possession of illegal ammunition.Authorities arrived at Balboni’s home, located just feet from the school, around 11 a.m. Saturday to arrest him on outstanding warrants but found an explosive device inside the home, a source said.The bomb squad performed a controlled detonation of the device on Beyer Place, the source said. Police later searched Gillette’s home where another pipe bomb was allegedly found.
