Lynn officials to gather for mental health week

LYNN – City officials will gather together Friday at 6 p.m. at the Lynn YMCA youth center at 20 Neptune Blvd., to show support for children’s mental health awareness.In celebration of mental health week, which took place May 4-10, Mayor Edward J. Clancy Jr. will visit the Friday Family Support Group to sign a proclamation supporting awareness of children’s mental health.The event will also feature a preview of “Lets Glow,” an Express Yourself performance.Dalene Basden, MSPCC parent system specialist, said the performance celebrates the power of creative arts and changes the lives of underserved youth in the community and in the Department of Mental Health treatment facilities.The performance will take place on May 22 at 6:45 p.m. at the Citi Wang Theater at 270 Tremont St., Boston.General admission is free and buses will leave from the Lynn YMCA at 5:45 p.m.Sen. Thomas M. McGee, and Reps. Mark Falzone, Robert Fennell and Steven Walsh have also been invited to join the signing.The Lynn Special Olympic team will also be on hand to receive a check from St. Mary’s for money that was raised at a soccer tournament.Refreshments will be served.
