SAUGUS – A 52-year-old Saugus man was attacked and robbed as he exited the Italian-American Club on Beachview Avenue early Sunday morning, police said.Investigators say William Nicolo exited the ITAM at about 1 a.m. when two men pulled a handgun on him in the parking lot.The suspects allegedly pointed the gun at Nicolo’s head and demanded his wallet. Once he complied, they pistol-whipped him in the back of the head numerous times, according to police.One suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his mid 20s, about six feet tall with a scruffy beard and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt. The other suspect is a Black or Hispanic male in his early 20s, about 5-foot-8, thin build and was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.The suspects fled in a small gold-colored sedan, police said.The victim’s wallet contained an undisclosed amount of cash and several credit cards.Nicolo’s son transported his father to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital shortly after the robbery.
