SAUGUS – Three apparent drug users were arrested Monday at the Red Roof Inn when police, investigating a report of a man with a gun, discovered a hotel room packed with dirty needles, heroin and cocaine, according to court documents.Quinn McLean, 26, and Amy Ingemi, 27, both of 244 Kennedy Drive, Malden and Gary L. Devitto, 36, of 8 Harmony Drive, Londonderry, N.H., were arrested and charged with possession of heroin and cocaine shortly after 12 p.m.Several officers arrived at the Route 1 hotel after a woman left an anonymous tip saying she saw a man who appeared to have a handgun tucked into his pants and said he was staying in a room with two women who used drugs, according to police. The woman was crying as she spoke on the phone with police, police said.Officers were standing in the front lobby when they saw a man, later identified as Devitto, requesting a room change, according to police. A detective later pulled him aside and spoke with him about the concerns he had about a possible gun.Meanwhile, the other officers knocked on the door of room 339, where they encountered Ingemi and McLean.Ingemi was allegedly sitting on a chair with a terry cloth belt wrapped around her arm.Officers informed the women they would try to obtain a search warrant, but McLean instead gave police her consent to search the room and signed a consent form, according to police.Photographs of the room, which were placed in public court records, show dozens of hypodermic needles and twist bags of narcotics stashed all over the hotel room, including underneath a mattress, inside dresser drawers and on top of tables.Several of the needles were uncapped filled with a brown liquid substance, believed to be narcotics, police said.Police reports never mention if officers obtained the handgun that was originally reported by the anonymous tipster. The three suspects were arraigned Tuesday in Lynn District Court, where Judge Albert Conlon released them on personal recognizance. They are due back in court July 7 for a pre-trial hearing.
