MARBLEHEAD – Nina Cullen-Hamzeh will continue as interim academic director of the Marblehead Community Charter Public School next year, with a $7,000, or 3 percent raise.Her new salary will be $95,000 and she will receive an additional $4,360 as tuition for a master’s program. The MCCPS will pay 75 percent of her medical and dental insurance costs and she will pay the remaining 25 percent. Her new contract will run from July 1 to June 30, 2009.Board Chairman Kay O’Dwyer and John Sullivan represented the board in the negotiations. The contract was supported by Cathy Vaucher, Emil Ronchi, O’Dwyer, Cynthia Canavan, Sullivan and Robert Sousa.Her contractual duties include supervising curriculum development; providing leadership and guidance to the faculty and staff; managing the school’s short-term and long-term academic programs, student disciplinary policies and student services; overseeing student services; reporting to government agencies; leading the professional development team; communicating with the school community twice a month and working to improve community relations; working to maintain and stabilize enrollment; understanding the school finances and budget as well as state and federal laws and Department of Education regulations; developing and implementing educational and personnel policies; attending board meetings as an ex officio member and making written reports to the board each month.
