SALEM – A Lynn man who had been in default on two drug cases out of Saugus and Lynn for six years will serve up to five years.In Salem Superior Court Friday afternoon, Ruben Febre Delecruz, 35, formerly of 21 Shepard St., #10, struck a deal with the commonwealth and pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of possession with the intent to distribute heroin and a second charge of distribution of heroin.He was sentenced to serve 3-to-5-years in state prison by Judge David A. Lowy.The judge followed the agreement reached by Assistant District Attorney Michael J. Sheehan and defense lawyer James E. McCall.Sheehan said the charges relate to crimes in Saugus and Lynn in 2001.On July 12, Delecruz sold heroin to an undercover officer near the Square One Mall in Saugus.Then a week later on July 19, police raided his Lynn apartment on Shepard Street and discovered more than 26 grams of heroin.The judge credited Delecruz the 200 days he has been in custody awaiting trial.The sentence imposed will run together with a Middlesex County narcotic case Delecruz currently is serving.
