Kicking bad habits through theory of past-life regression

Robin Kaminski

May 18, 2008 by Robin Kaminski

BEVERLY – Have you ever wondered why you keep making the same mistakes over and over, or why you lack confidence or suffer from anxiety? The answers to your questions may lie in hypnotherapy.A popular method used to modify a person’s behavior and attitude, hypnotherapy is a practice Marilyn Regan, MS, CHT, has been utilizing for the past five years at Body Work Energy & Wellness at 180 Cabot St., in Beverly. After working in the health field for 20 years, Regan was introduced to the method from a friend, became a Certified Clinical Hynotherapist, and is trained in basic, advanced, clinical, metaphysical hypnosis, acupuncture, Reiki, and past life regression therapy.”Some people are skeptical about past life therapy and others love it,” she said. “A lot of people who do it feel a release and are able to heal from whatever is bothering them.”Regan described past-life regression, which is accomplished through hypnosis and is based on a belief of reincarnation, as a journey back into a previous life for the purpose of understanding or healing in the present one.”I have some people who are just extremely nervous and are on anti-anxiety drugs for no reason,” she said. “Something happened to them in a past life that has been carried over to their present life and is affecting them. The therapy also helps people rid themselves of fears and phobias.”Regan said the client is placed under a trance through guided imagery and is asked to go back to a previous life.Once there, Regan asks the person to describe their surroundings and what they look like to identify the year and or approximate time period. The client would then be asked to go to a significant time period in that life and experience it. Regan said that is usually the identifier for what is bothering them in their current life. The technique can also help the client discover latent talents, their life purpose, why they are drawn to certain things, and their dislike of others.Insight into relationships and the way they are approached can also be revealed.”Very often the people in our lives today have been in our lives before,” she said. “Though the relationship with them may have been different, we recognize that they are indeed the same soul.”The cost to reveal such eccentricities is about $100 an hour, or $50 an hour for a group session. However, Regan said more than one session may be required, depending on the problem.”It depends on how deep-seeded the issues are, so one time might not be enough,” she said. “I can regress you to different lives as well.”Aside from revealing past lives, Regan also works with those who wish to lose weight, quit smoking, anxiety or to improve self confidence. However, Regan said the client truly has to want to quit their bad habits to make the sessions work.”You are always in control and it’s really your choice,” she said. “Most people who come for weight loss go through about three sessions, one to correct their dietary choices, another for exercising and revving up their metabolism, and a third for empowerment to shore up the other two.”If a client is obese, Regan said a plan to lose weight must already be in place and a note is required from their physician.Regan said she would like to videotape each of the sessions in the future so that clients can see how they act while under hypnosis.”Some people say, oh, well I wasn’t really under,” she said. “But some people take on a different language when under hypnosis and their faces even look different. If a person is really relaxed, then a higher person can tell them why they are acting a certain way.”For more information or to schedule a session, visit www.marilynregan.com
