Lincoln Ave. concerns addressed

June 12, 2008 by jbutterworth

MARBLEHEAD – Due to parking lot repairs and other construction work there have been parking problems galore on Lincoln Avenue recently and selectmen responded to those concerns.Mark Ryan, the owner of Ryan Marine on Lincoln Avenue, told the selectmen Wednesday evening he would do his best to be a good neighbor from now on – and his lawyer, Attorney Paul Lynch, and a number of his friends backed him up.But neighbors of the business said Ryan Marine is a much larger marine business than the others allowed there by a zoning bylaw. Ward Boyce and Jean Eldridge said when Ryan’s customers park on the sidewalk they force children to walk on a busy street. Eldridge called that situation a nightmare.Selectman William Woodfin, a Lincoln Avenue resident who wrote the bylaw allowing marine businesses on the street, said he personally spoke with Ryan Wednesday about sidewalk parking and the two cars he saw parked on the sidewalk were visiting a neighbor, not Ryan Marine.”He (Ryan) has shown me good faith,” Woodfin said.
