DANVERS ? A Nahant man was one of two men injured in a head on crash on Route 128 North early Wednesday morning.State Trooper Thomas Murphy said an unidentified male driver, who was operating a 1996 Saturn sedan, was going south in the northbound lane of Route 128 in Danvers near Endicott Street.?He sustained severe and possible life threatening injuries,” Murphy said. “We are not releasing his identity at this time.”According to Murphy, the unidentified male was going the wrong way when he hit a 2000 Isuzu Trooper SUV head on at approximately 4:20 a.m. The driver of the SUV was identified as Kirk A. Palmer, 44, of Nahant.?Both operators sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash,” he said. “They were both taken to Danvers Hospital.”Murphy said Route 128 was closed to traffic until approximately 6 a.m. Murphy said Trooper Matthew Sheehan investigated and the cause of the crash remains under investigation but at this time it appears the Saturn was traveling southbound in the northbound lane.
