LYNN – One of three East Lynn car break-in suspects was arrested Thursday after running through Floating Bridge Pond trying to elude officers, police said. The suspects were charged with six break-ins but could be connected to as many as 16 others, according to Lt. Ted Blake, police spokesman. The suspects are identified as Angelo Macaya, 23, of 5 Union St. #4, Lynn, a 16-year-old juvenile of the same address and Werby Perez, 19, of 3 Carlton Terrace #2, Lynn.At around 3:30 a.m. Thursday, a Lawrence Road resident called police after watching three males break into a car. The neighbor scared them off before officers arrived, police said. The neighbor said the suspects fled in a white Mazda and police saw that car driving on Western Avenue off Fays Avenue minutes later, according to police. An unmarked vehicle pulled up next to the Mazda, which drove a few more blocks before pulling over, police said. The suspects then fled the vehicle in different directions.Police say the Mazda, which was stolen, was only built to seat two people but three were inside.Officers observed one of the suspects, the 16-year-old boy, jump into the pond while trying to get away. Other officers, arriving for back-up, waited for the suspect to emerge in the backyard of 2 Victory Road, where he was arrested. After conducting interviews and an investigation, officers obtained arrest warrants for Macaya and Perez and placed them into custody later in the morning.Police say nearly $4,000 in cash was confiscated from the suspects, along with three GPS navigation units, a portable video game console, loose change and fireworks. Each suspect was charged with receiving a stolen vehicle, possession of burglarious tools, illegal possession of fireworks, possession of marijuana and six counts of receiving stolen property.
