REVERE – A man who allegedly fled to Revere after raping a 6-year-old girl in Florida was ordered held without bail Monday by a Chelsea District Court judge, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.Faustino Santiago, 34, of Orlando, Fla., opted to waive extradition to the Sunshine State to face felony child rape charges, DA spokesman Jake Wark said.A landlord allowed police to enter a basement apartment at 785 Revere Beach Parkway and arrest Santiago on Saturday afternoon, police said.Police had to smash through two locked doors in order to obtain Santiago, who was found lying in bed at the time, police said.Santiago’s former girlfriend told Revere police April 30 she suspected he sexually assaulted her 6-year-old daughter, authorities said. The mother made the report on the same day her daughter told her about the abuse, police said.Working with the State Police Fugitive Apprehension Team and Revere Police, the mother arranged to meet Santiago for lunch in Boston on June 26, according to police. He cancelled at the last minute. After another attempt to meet him failed, police decided to arrest Santiago at the Revere residence after obtaining an arrest warrant. The victim and suspect lived in Florida when the abuse occurred and Santiago followed the family to Revere after they moved here, State Police spokesman David Procopio said.It is likely that Santiago will be transported back to Florida at his next court appearance July 14 in Chelsea, Wark said.
