SALEM – The North Shore advocacy organization Help for Abused Women and their Children (HAWC) is honoring five women with Lynn ties for their volunteer efforts.Recognized by HAWC during its annual Volunteer Appreciation Awards dinner at the Hawthorne Hotel were Elsabel Rincon, a HAWC family advocate in the Lynn office; Joanne Stinson, a HAWC legal advocate also from the Lynn office; attorney and Lynn resident Susie Moniz, a volunteer in HAWC’s Family Law Clinic that offers monthly legal advice to HAWC clients in Lynn; and Karen Carone of Lynn, manager of the ReRun for HAWC program.HAWC spokesman Melanie Fleming said 55 HAWC volunteers attended dinner in their honor, along with HAWC staff and board members Terese Barous of Ipswich and Allan Huntley of Middleton. Some of the recognized volunteer “jobs” include: answering HAWC’s 24-hour abuse hotline, serving as an advocate in the five district courts and probate court in Salem, as special events volunteers, support group facilitators, child care providers, administrative assistants, and helpers in the ReRun boutique in Beverly.
