MARBLEHEAD – With the passage of two school overrides last month, the School Committee has two new committees in place dealing with the next phase of two construction projects.The projects include a $21.8 million renovation project at the Marblehead Village School and the construction of a new $22.9 million school for Glover and Eveleth Elementary School children – so far the voters have only approved $395,000 to cover the feasibility study for that project.There will be three Marblehead representatives sitting in with the Massachusetts School Building Authority representatives when the MSBA Designer Selection Panel meets in Boston today. They are former School Committee member Rob Dana, Town Administrator Tony Sasso and School Committee Chair Amy Drinker.Based on the recommendation of the Village School Building Oversight Committee, the School Committee has chosen KV Associates of Boston as the project manager for the Village School project. KV oversaw a complicated repair project in a Salem school while classes were ongoing. The firm was chosen from a field of 26 applicants. The Village school architect has not yet been chosen.The Glover School Building Committee, which will conduct the feasibility study in collaboration with the MSBA to identify the most cost effective and educationally sound solution to the Glover School’s facility needs, will include School Committee members Patricia Blackmer and Richard Nohelty, Glover-Eveleth Principal Mary Devlin, Superintendent of Schools Paul Dulac, Interim School Business Manager Gene Case, School Facilities Director Matty Matthews, Finance Committee member David Harris, Capital Planning Committee member Victor Wild, teacher Fran Sheridan, community representatives David Bennet and Robert Schaeffner and School Committee Chairman Amy Drinker, who will serve ex officio. Alternate members include Kathy Leonardson, Finance Committee, and teachers Maribeth Barrell and Diane Gora.
