LYNN – A Lynn man was arrested Wednesday for shooting another man several times on a crowded street in broad daylight nearly three months ago, police said.Carlos Lopez, 20, of 17 Highland Ave., allegedly shot Wendell Morris, 19, of Lynn, multiple times on April 23 at the corner of Essex Street and Brownville Avenue. It was the first day of the year that temperatures reached over 80 degrees and hundreds of people watched ambulance personnel strap Morris to a stretcher shortly after the 6:30 p.m. shooting. He was shot multiple times in the back.According to Lynn police spokesman Lt. Ted Blake, both Morris and Lopez are gang members but detectives don’t believe the shooting was the result of a gang beef.”It was about something personal,” Blake said.Lopez was taken into custody at about 2 p.m. Wednesday and charged with attempted murder and multiple firearms violations. He is scheduled for arraignment today in Lynn District Court, where more details of the crime are expected to be released.Morris was arrested June 12, nearly six weeks after he was shot, for allegedly shooting at someone on Sheridan Street on April 21 – two days before he was shot on Essex Street. In that case, which police say may have been gang-related, Morris allegedly shot at a 16-year-old boy after he accused the boy of robbing his friend.
