PEABODY – Community members of Renaissance Gardens at Brooksby Village will soon have another healthcare option with the addition of Assisted Care Plus. The new program is designed for residents living with early to moderate dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease. Treatment will take place in a cozy, home environment located on two floors within Renaissance Gardens. The floors will be broken up into two households of 16 residents each for a more focused means of care.”There’s a customer-driven need for this,” said Beth Eichfeld, associate executive director of Renaissance Gardens. “As our community ages, it’s natural to have the propensity to develop Alzheimer’s.”Eichfeld said that a number of residents already receive care within the community, but not nearly as specific as what the “plus” program can offer.”We can take care of them better and provide them a better quality of life,” she said. “We want to be able to offer all the services right on their campus. In order to do so, we want to do it in a smaller environment where we’re dedicating our staff to knowing about dementia.”The program will offer intimate care where the staff will get to know their patients’ personal preferences and situations through a series of meaningful activities each day.Staff training begins in August. Eichfeld expects to start caring for the residents by the week after Labor Day.For more information, contact Renaissance Gardens at 1-800-249-6041.
