LYNN – No one was injured Monday after an apparent gunfight broke out in broad daylight off Lewis Street, police said.According to police spokesman Lt. Ted Blake, two males began shooting at each other on Aubrey Terrace near the corner of Lewis Street shortly after 2:30 p.m.One of the suspects was described as a black male and the other a light-skinned Hispanic or black male, police said.Multiple witnesses said they heard approximately five gunshots.No arrests were made as of press time.A mailman was on his route when he heard the gunfire. He declined to give his name but said he “just heard it.””Through bullets, rain, sleet and snow,” he joked to an officer as he left the area.Police spoke with several witnesses at the scene, including residents of 100 Lewis St., which sits on the corner of Aubrey Terrace.Keith, a 22-year-old nearby resident who declined to give his last name, said he was unaware that a shooting had occurred as he walked down Lewis Street with a friend.”It seems to happen on the regular now,” he said. “It gives Lynn a bad name.”Keith and his friend said they’re used to dealing with gun violence and speculated the shooting was likely gang-related.”You don’t get shot unless you did something,” Keith said. “This is what happens.”An Aubrey Terrace resident who has lived on the cul-de-sac for 51 years, but declined to give her name, said there hasn’t been a shooting on her quiet street before.”This is the first and hopefully the last,” she said. “I’m not going anywhere. My roots are right here.”
