LYNN – Two masked men burst inside a Chestnut Street liquor store Tuesday and fired a gunshot as horrified employees looked on, police said.The suspects were wearing bandanas when they entered Chestnut Liquors, Wine and Spirits at 348 Chestnut St. shortly after 6:30 p.m., according to police.No one was hurt after a single gunshot was fired, police said.The employee who was behind the counter, who declined to give his name, said after the attack he’s thankful to be alive.”My life should be over today,” he said. “Thank God he didn’t kill me.”Another employee said Tuesday marked the first time the family-owned store has been robbed since they purchased it two years ago.It was unknown as of press time if any money was stolen. The suspects were last seen jumping into a green Honda Civic parked outside the store, near the corner of Jefferson Street, according to police.Police questioned the victims for nearly an hour after the incident and took photos of the ceiling where a bullet appeared to have struck.Police also viewed a video surveillance tape of the robbery.Initial reports indicated one of the suspects was armed with a knife while the other had a silver semi-automatic handgun.Both suspects were initially described as being about 5 feet, 8 inches tall. One was allegedly wearing a Yankees cap and the other a Dodgers cap.
