PEABODY – Teachers and principals have a day to meet and discuss their plans before the school year begins. Now, School Committee members will get the same opportunity.School Committee member Beverley Ann Griffin Dunne has announced she would like to round up committee members for an informal planning session prior to the start of the year. Invited to attend would be teachers, principals and members of the administration.”It would really strengthen our team and help us work together,” she told the board.Dunne hopes to hold the event before the start of the year, preferably the last week in August. Although the format has not yet been laid out, she envisions a 3-5 hour day full of casual conversations.”I would like to hope that we can come up with some good, concrete goals for this coming school year,” Dunne said. “To sit down and talk with each other and brainstorm ideas, and get to know the other members of the team, too.”School Committee member Dave McGeney thought her plan was, a great idea.Dunne said if all of those involved in the school system were on the same page, things would get accomplished more easily and more effectively.”To have a one page letter saying, ‘here’s what we want to do this year’, that’s what my goal is,” Dunne said. “If (people) know what we’re planning, they’ll be able to participate in a much bigger way.”
