LYNN – A female resident of 99 1/2 High Rock St. was trying to do the right thing by allowing another woman and her four young kids to spend the night Tuesday because the woman was separated from the children’s father. But the act of good will cost 33-year-old Greenland Etienne her life in a brutal way.Rodlyn Petitbois, 28, is charged with stabbing her to death after she tried to stop him from attacking his children’s mother’s new boyfriend, according to police. After Petitbois allegedly stabbed Etienne several times in the face and one of her eyes, he whisked his estranged girlfriend and their four young children away around 1 a.m. Wednesday, setting off an interstate Amber Alert. The family was found at about 6 p.m. Wednesday in Brooklyn, N.Y.According to the police, Petitbois came over to 991/2 High Rock several hours before the homicide occurred. He even got Chinese food for everyone. However, during the course of the night, Petitbois began drinking Hennessy and tried to persuade the mother of his children, 26-year-old Louna Eveillard, to spend the night with him at his 15 Whittier St. home.At some point, Eveillard’s new boyfriend came over and was quickly confronted by Petitbois in the kitchen. He allegedly grabbed two knives and held them against the other man’s throat.Etienne screamed that she was calling police when Petitbois allegedly came after her, held her on the floor and stabbed her in the face.During the chaos, Eveillard intervened and was allegedly stabbed in the hand. The male eyewitness told police he watched Petitbois use the knife to stab Etienne in her eye.The male eyewitness said Eveillard and Petitbois quickly left the home with their children, Ryan Petitbois, 3, Lyndsey, 2, Lauren, 22 months and Rodrick, 11 months.Details of the attack were released in Lynn District Court Wednesday when authorities were issued an arrest warrant for Petitbois on charges of murder and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.Police interviewed two eyewitnesses to the attack, a man and a woman, but did not identify them in the police report. Media reports identify one witness as Sabino St. Pruex, 23.Authorities said Wednesday night that Petitbois would be arraigned this morning in a Brooklyn, N.Y. courtroom where he can choose to challenge or waive extradition to Massachusetts to face the murder rap.
