August 1, 2008 by [email protected]

LYNN – Teens slipping into a boredom funk as the Dog Days of Summer approach can pencil in at least one social gathering for August as the popular Free Teen Movie Night is back for a second year in Central Square. The Girls Inc.-backed Part of the Solution Youth Council will hold the second annual event on Tuesday, Aug. 5 beginning at 8 p.m. at the Lynn Museum Park on Union Street. After great success in its inaugural year, the event will return with a showing of the street dancing movie Step Up 2: The Streets. There will be free popcorn, ice cream and other snacks for all who attend, thanks to local merchants such as Garelick Farms. All teens, youth and families are invited to participate in the free event and are welcome to bring chairs or blankets to the park to sit on.The goal of the movie night is to provide Lynn teens with a fun, substance and violence-free activity while enjoying a warm summer evening.Part of the Solution will show a series of public service videos preceding the film.Part of the Solution has been working diligently to reduce underage alcohol consumption and substance abuse as well as creating a fun, safe opportunity for teens to get involved in activities in the city of Lynn. The group has been tirelessly promoting the movie night throughout the month of July and hopes for another big turnout this year. For more information about the movie night or Part of the Solution call Catherine Dhingra at 781-592-9744 x 213.
