REVERE – Several people were arrested Tuesday after an assault with a baseball bat near the Beachmont train station led to a large crowd refusing to disperse, police said.According to Revere Police Capt. Michael Murphy, the fight started when 24-year-old Rafael Ramos was walking with his girlfriend when somehow a confrontation began with someone inside a car.Police say Ramos exchanged words with James Gayhart, 25, of 170 Bellingham Ave., Revere. Ramos allegedly reached through the car window and assaulted Gayhart.Ramos and his girlfriend walked away but Gayhart allegedly armed himself with a baseball bat and struck Ramos in the head, police said.As the two began fighting, a large crowd formed.Murphy said officers made several requests for the crowd to disperse, but Janine Lunardi, 44, and Dillon Conners, 17, both of 59 Crest Ave., Revere, refused to do so. They were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.Gayhart was arrested and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.Ramos was treated at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston for head and facial injuries. He will be summonsed to court for assault and battery.
