LYNN – The Wyoma Yankees have become pretty resourceful in the Lynn City Series. With its ace, Cam O’Neill, on the shelf because of an arm injury, the Yankees have relied on the arm of Lucas Harris and timely hitting to get them through. On Friday at Reinfuss Field, it proved to be no different. Wyoma knocked East Lynn ace Vinny Capano out of the game during an 8-run third inning that led the way to a 14-5 Yankees win and a winner-take-all game this afternoon (2).”Luke pitched tremendous,” Wyoma manager Dan O’Neill said. “ANd we’re looking forward to the final game (today).”Across the way, East Lynn was looking for answers after seeing its ace struggle to throw strikes.”That was so uncharacteristic for Vinny,” Cubs manager Ryan Boisselle said. “And I kept expecting him to get it back but it just snowballed.”The Cubbies started a whole lot better than they finished. In the top of the first against Harris, East Lynn grabbed a quick lead.Ryan Boisselle led off with a double and went to third on a passed ball. After a strikeout, Boisselle came across when Brandon Kahari’s grounder was booted at short.Harris got Wyoma out of the inning without further damage and then started a Yankee rally in the bottom of the first by walking. He headed to second on a passed ball and came around to score on CHris DOnovan’s double.Kevin Dusablon gave Wyoma the lead at 2-1 when he singled in DOnovan. Capano got the next two batters before Dusablon was cut down at home trying to score on a passed ball. The Cubs grabbed the lead back in the top of the third.No. 9 batter Bobby Haddow walked and Boisselle singled. A passed ball moved both runners up a base before Haddow scored on Jesse Caufield’s sacrifice fly to center. Boisselle scored on a passed ball to make it 3-2 Cubs. That lead didn’t last long as Capano suffered from a bout of Rick ANkiel syndrome, struggling to find the plate in a huge way.Harris, Donovan and Dusablon walked before Nick Needham hit into a fielders choice that erased Harris. Brendan O’Neill’s walk forced in Donovan to tie the game.Joey Ragusa drew Wyoma’s fifth walk of the the inning, scoring Dusablon to give the Yankees the lead and end Capano’s outing.”I didn’t want to bring in a relief pitcher there with the bases loaded but we had to,” Boisselle said.Reliever Ordis Garcia was greeted by a 2-run single from Louie Lenzie that made it 6-3. Jack Milhan’s bunt single added on another run before two more scored on errors and the final run came home on a stolen base.”We capitalized on a couple of the opportunities that we got,” O’Neill said.Wyoma upped the lead to 12-3 with two in the fourth before the Cubs got two back in the fifth on a Caulfield triple and a Kahari groundout. The Yankees closed out the scoring in the fifth on a Donovan triple that plated Milhan and Dusablon’s RBI single.
